Become A Council Trainer

Ever thought about being part of the council training team? Girl Scouts Louisiana East is looking for committed volunteers to become council trainers.

We are a fun group of people with a strong sense of community and a common goal of serving our leaders and girls. No prior training experience is necessary… we will teach you all you need to know! Commitment is manageable: you need to teach only four to six trainings a year.

We provide a top-notch 12-hour Train the Trainer course, which utilizes the most recent findings in adult learning theory. If you plan to do any sort of training in your career, you will benefit from taking this course and volunteering as a council trainer.

To qualify as a trainer, participants:

  • complete the 12-hour Train the Trainer course offered in the spring or fall
  • audit and apprentice in Basic Leadership or Program Age Levels
  • agree to conduct four to six sessions per year (for a minimum of two years) of Basic Leadership, Program Age Level, Outdoor Skills, CPR/First Aid, or other specialized training.

Teaching First Aid/CPR

The main organization the council uses for First Aid/CPR is the American Red Cross. Volunteers who would like to teach First Aid/CPR will need to have appropriate First Aid/CPR certification and have taken the American Red Cross Instructor course. Contact your local American Red Cross chapter to find out when the Instructor course will be offered
