Program Resources

Girl Scouting is the world’s best personal growth and leadership development experience for girls.  The philosophy of its leadership development model is that to become leaders, girls need to:

  • Understand their values and their world (Discover)
  • Care about, inspire and team with others (Connect)
  • Act to make the world a better place (Take Action)

Girl Scout activities and events are based on the needs and interests of today’s girls, and its program is designed to provide girls ages 5-17 with a wide variety of opportunities and activities available in Girl Scout handbooks, award books, Girl Scout-related websites, and through activities & events at the Council, Service Unit, or troop levels.

The program encourages increased skill-building and responsibility, and also promotes the development of strong leadership and decision-making skills.

Initiatives

Initiatives address specific needs of girls today. Healthy Living, and  Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) are just two Girl Scout initiatives.  Click here for more information about the initiatives.
