Cool Girl Scout cookie treats at local Dairy Queens

JULY 2009

Back for a second summer of cool treats, Girl Scout cookies are the special ingredient in the Dairy Queen Blizzard of the month treats. Dairy Queen Girl Scout Appreciation Week, from July 20 through July 26, is part of a two-month, licensed promotion with Dairy Queen that includes the introduction of the new Girl Scouts Tagalongs Peanut Butter Patties Blizzard Treat as the July Blizzard of the Month and the return of the Girl Scouts Thin Mint Cookie Blizzard in August. Last year the Thin Mint Cookie Blizzard became one of the most popular Blizzards of all time, selling more than 10 million nationally in a one month period!

Dairy Queen stores will host local Girl Scout troops where Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial and leadership skills during a behind-the-scenes tour of the DQ store. They will receive tips from the Dairy Queen owner and operator about how to run a successful business, gain insight into the product development process, and enhance their financial literacy skills while learning how a restaurant makes a profit.

The Dairy Queen Girl Scout Blizzard partnership reflects the Girl Scouts strategy to develop alliances that expose girls to entrepreneurial business programs in local communities.  Community events such as these raise awareness for local Girl Scout troops.  Troop membership is on the rise, but adult volunteers are needed to lead troops or share their talents through programming possibilities.

If you are interested in joining Girl Scouts or being an adult volunteer, call the Council office in New Orleans at (504) 733-8220, or email info@gsle.org. Coupons for the Girl Scout Dairy Queen July Blizzard are available here.
