New Online Cookie Locator helps find Girl Scout Cookies
Booth sales begin February 26
February 2010
Remember when you took the last box of Girl Scout cookies from the freezer last summer and thought, “Why didn’t I buy more?” Well, the wait is over! Girl Scouts who took pre-orders when the annual sale began January 15 will begin delivering cookies to customers and setting up booth locations throughout southeast Louisiana on February 26. This year it will be easier than ever to find booth locations and stock the freezer with the new online Cookie booth locator on the Girl Scouts Louisiana East website at www.gsle.org beginning February 26.
Recognizing how New Orleans Saints fever has swept the Who Dat Nation, some Girl Scouts will be offering Saints bundles of Girl Scout cookies wrapped in black and gold ribbon during their booth sales. The Girl Scouts will also offer cookie bundles wrapped in the colors of their favorite local high school and college teams with the hope that sports fans will be enticed into buying more than one box of Girl Scout cookies. Girl Scout cookie bundles "sporting" your favorite team's colors are a great gift idea, too!
The mission of the annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale which ends on March 14 is to help girls do great things. Customers can support their efforts by purchasing additional cookies for donation to the Gift of Caring or Troops Helping Troops service projects. Gift of Caring cookies are donated to a non-profit or service organization selected by the troop, like fire and police departments. Troops Helping Troops cookies are sent to military troops serving overseas.
Cookies are $3.50 a box upon delivery with proceeds remaining in southeast Louisiana. A portion goes to local troops to help fund their troop activities and the remainder supports the council’s leadership and training programs for Girl Scouts and adult volunteers.
The local council, Girl Scouts Louisiana East, serves girls 5 to 17 in the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, Washington, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana.
