Girl Scouts Louisiana East is in compliance with Louisiana Legislative Auditor

WDSU-TV story in error, Legislative auditor corrects
non-compliance list, removing Girl Scout council from list

NOVEMBER 11 2010

Girl Scouts Louisiana East was mistakenly put on the Louisiana legislative auditor’s noncompliance list for not supplying a sworn financial statement for funds received in 2009, and has since been removed from the list by the state office.  Once Girl Scouts was apprised last week of the fact that we were on the list by WDSU-TV reporter Travers Mackel, Girl Scouts Louisiana East contacted the legislative auditor’s office (speaking to Sudha Rawal) who has since removed Girl Scouts Louisiana East from this list.  Girl Scouts Louisiana East is in fact, in compliance, with the Louisiana legislative auditor.

Girl Scouts Louisiana East did not receive any federal and state funding in 2009 and was not required by audit law to submit any report or statement to that fact.  This audit law has since been amended by the 2010 Legislative Session, and Girl Scouts will continue to make certain it remains in compliance with state requirements.

Girl Scouts Louisiana East is hopeful that WDSU-TV will inform its viewers of the error that occurred, and other media outlets will not state that the Girl Scouts are not in compliance, which is not the case.
