Whether you're a girl wanting to find out more about Girl Scouting, or an adult interested in making a difference in a girl's life, we invite you to join us! Any girl who is between 5 and 17 years old can become a Girl Scout by accepting the Girl Scout Promise and Law and paying the $12 annual membership dues. However, no girl will be denied membership in Girl Scouts for financial reasons.
Girl Scouts Louisiana East encourages all girls to become Girl Scouts, regardless of race, color, ethnicity, creed, national origin, socio-economic status or ability.
We welcome adults--men and women, as volunteers and mentors in Girl Scouting. Because we know you're busy, we offer flexible options to anyone interested in helping girls become tomorrow's leaders. There are many ways to help out with Girl Scouting, and many don't require a lot of time. Whether it's once a week, once a month, or once a year, we need your help.
What do Girl Scouts do?
Girl Scouts are girls who have fun, make friends and discover new places! Girl Scouts go camping, visit museums, care for the environment, sell cookies, help people in the community, and participate in exciting events that change all the time. Girl Scouting gives girls like you the chance to explore your world and have a lot of fun at the same time!
Would I be a Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette or Senior Girl Scout?
What group you are in depends on your grade:
Girl Scout Daisies
ages 5-6 and in kindergarten-grade 1, learn and have fun in small-group activities that expand their world.
Girl Scout Brownies
grades 2-3, enjoy a program that appeals to their wide-ranging curiosity and desire to be helpful. They may earn Try-It badges for participation in special activities.
Girl Scout Juniors
grades 4-5, focus on five areas: well-being, people, today and tomorrow, arts and out-of-doors. They may earn badges to indicate growth and progress.
Girl Scout Cadettes
grades 6-8, prepare for their adult roles and may participate in national and international Girl Scout events. They may do intensive work on interest projects, explre careers, pursue community service and earn the Girl Scout Silver Award.
Girl Scout Seniors,
grades 9-10, and
Girl Scout Ambassadors,
grades 11-12, can explore group activities in arts, community action and career exploration. They also may work with adults and younger Girl Scouts in leadership roles, participate in national and international Girl Scout events and earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, Girl Scouting's highest honor.
How much does it cost?
Annual membership dues are $12, and each troop will decide on any additional troop dues to cover the costs of events and activities, however, no girl will be denied membership because of financial reasons.
