It's a birthday party for Juliette Low - and you!!

Girl Scout Daisies - Ambassadors, come and enjoy a fun-filled day at camp! Participate in hands-on activities and informative presentations from all sorts of different organizations. Bake your own special birthday cake or other goodies beforehand to bring and share with all your sister Girl Scouts as we celebrate our Girl Scout founder's birthday.

For: Girl Scout Daisies - Ambassadors

When: Saturday, November 7, 2009

Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Where: Camp Whispering Pines, Independence

Cost: $8 per girl and $2 per Safety-Wise ratio adult.

Capacity: 500 participants including adults

Registration Opens: Now Registration Closes: October 16 or when maximum capacity is reached

Notes: Bring a sack lunch! Please limit adult participation to Safety-Wise ratio and trandsportation needs. Overnight camping is available with limited program site activities available. All camp fees and approval process still apply.


Community Service Project - Drive for battered women and children

Girl Scouts will hold a drive in collaboration with the Metropolitan Center for Women and Children who need items to use in local shelters and to assist the women and children being helped who are trying to start new lives and have very little to start out with. New and lightly worn items from the list below will be accepted. 

Items include: 

For Adults:

Personal care products:  Personal hygiene items, African- American hair care products (Soft Sheen, Cream of Nature, Care Free, Ultra Sheen), new make-up, curling irons, blow dryers, hair ties, clips, & accessories, large sunglasses.

Clothing:  New underwear all sizes, stockings, socks, robes, nightgowns, ladies pajamas all sizes, bras all sizes, slippers. Black or white tennis shoes, ladies black work shoes sizes 6-12. Light sweaters or windbreakers sizes SM – 2XL.

Other:   Alarm clocks, umbrellas and rain ponchos, gift certificates (Wal-Mart, Kmart, grocery stores…) Irons, Ironing boards, radios, any type of suitcases or tote bags. 

For Children

Clothing: khaki and navy blue shorts or long pants, white, red, navy blue polo shirts (for school uniforms), new underwear for boys and girls all sizes, new or gently used regular clothes and shoes, all sizes.  Youth size rain ponchos, small umbrellas. Diapers and

 pull-ups.

School Supplies:  Book bags or back packs clear or mesh, black marble composition books, spiral notebooks, black and red pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, three prong folders with pockets. 

Art Supplies:  Play Doh, water colors, colored pencils, crayons, oil pastels, poster boards, washable markers, paint pens, washable paints, sketch pads, canvas board, glitter glue, yarn, string, glue gun, glue gun sticks, construction paper, manila paper. 

For the Agency:

Shelter Supplies: Single and double sized bed sheets, pillows and pillow cases, new bed pillows, strollers, baby beds and baby bedding sheets and blankets, gift certificates for stores that can fill prescriptions, wheel chairs, fold-away beds. Telephone calling cards and used cell phones.  We can always use volunteers!!
