ACA Accreditation

Girl Scout Camp Marydale and Camp Whispering Pines are both accredited by the American Camp Association. Accreditation means that each camp undergoes a thorough review process by outside camping professionals every three years. Our Girl Scout camps consistently achieve the highest standards in the areas of personnel, program, site administration, and health care.

Three Cheers to the Camp Staff

There is a ratio of one staff member for every 6-8 girls. Camp staff members are chosen for their character, understanding of girls, love of the outdoors and special skills. Staff members receive extensive training in program skills, first aid/CPR and emergency procedures prior to the beginning of camp. A Health Supervisor lives on the camp site during the camp season and a licensed physician is on call at all times. All staff members working directly with campers undergo a Louisiana Investigative Background check. Each camp is governed by the American Camp Association’s Youth Camp Regulations and operated under Girl Scouts of the USA’s guidelines and standards.

Resident Camp

As a council, our goal at camp is to provide an environment for girls to flourish by gaining new skills, building a sense of independence, actively engaging in camp community life, and appreciating the environment. She will return from camp knowing she is a capable, confident, strong Girl Scout. Chances are she will also be singing a lot of new silly songs on the ride home.
