It is starting to become commonplace to hear stories in the news about the effects of bullying among our youth. Most recently two eight grade girls in Oklahoma being bullied committed suicide. It is an overwhelming situation that leaves our girls wondering if they have anyone to turn to for help if this happens to them. To help young ladies in our community the Girl Scouts Louisiana East council is holding a one-day conference to give adults insight into the hidden world of relational aggression and situational tools that can help our girls.
Description:
Cyberbullying, exclusion, gossip, rumor-spreading, covert and overt aggression and destruction of self-worth makes it difficult for girls to be confident and successful. Bullying in today's society is much more complicated than it was for many of us growing up. With the advent of social networking sites a girl who is a target of bullying can now be taunted on an international level.
On June 4, the Girl Scouts Louisiana East council will present topics on relational aggression (female bullying) and cyberbullying by experts in their field to provide assistance in dealing with female bullying in your troops, classrooms and family. Join us for a one-day seminar as we explore the hidden world of girl bullying through relational aggression and cyberbullying.
